My Year In Vidding: 2012

The brevity of this list is only humbling when I compare myself with my amazingly productive friends who are also doing this meme. Four vids in a year is about average for me. I've never done more than five.
It's getting harder to make them. Between the intensity of my job and the intensity of my back pain, I'm just glad I'm able to keep doing this thing that thrills, challenges, and fulfills me so much.
My favorite vid this year (of my own):
Everything is Wrong. My love for Community was huge when I made it, and if anything was even bigger afterward. The vid came together pretty easily and was a lot of fun to make. It still makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
My least favorite vid this year:
I like all my vids this year (an accomplishment in itself), but I'm still a little bothered by the difference between how The Fear turned out, and how awesome it was going to be in my head.
Most successful vid:
Everything is Wrong, no question. I remain delighted that it was embraced so generously at VVC and did so well online, too. It's my most successful vid in many years.
Vid most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
I don't think any of them were underappreciated, really. The Festivids got the fewest comments, but their recipients loved them, and that's the point, after all.
Most fun video:
Depends on your definition of fun, really. Gone is certainly the most upbeat. My personal vote is for Only a Lad, though. ::evil grin::
Video with single sexiest moment:
Again, this is about taste. Do you prefer Val Kilmer's smile, Alisha's bottle blowjob, or Loki's mad leer? There are actual sex scenes in The Fear, but I think I have to go with the way Curtis is almost-but-not-quite stroking Alisha's face at 00:35.
Biggest vid fail:
As I indicated, The Fear wasn't everything I'd hoped it would be. I was really trying to show the way her life spirals out of control, particularly as she's repeatedly stalked and attacked when future!Simon shows up. I'm not sure the vid manages to make all the connections as clearly as I'd hoped, or that it has the emotional impact I felt while watching her slowly be destroyed onscreen. Ah, well.
Minor fail: my original concept for Only A Lad was to keep each of the sources in their own aspect ratio, and slowly expand the vid's frame out from 4:3 to 16:9 to super-widescreen. This would have made it more evocative of my personal vidding history through the years (and that of many other people I know), and would also have meant that I wouldn't have to blow up, distort, or crop any of the sources to make them all match. I couldn't figure out how to do it, though, so the whole thing is at 16:9. Oh well.
Hardest video to make:
In terms of editing, I struggled most with Gone, mostly because the song is of a type I'm not used to and it kept telling me to cut faster, but the source would not cooperate with that. Also, can you believe I vidded for 12 years before I did my first POV shift?
The Fear was hard because I had a song picked out that I was very happy with, and then THEY WENT AND KILLED ALISHA, THOSE BASTARDS. Last-minute course correction is never fun, and I really struggled to find a new song that would do justice to her newly darkened storyline.
Most unintentionally telling video:
My self-identification with Britta is obvious to everyone, including me. I'm not sure that Everything is Wrong is unintentionally telling, but I can say that its creation, release, and reception were a profoundly healing experience for me.
Goals for 2013:
Make some vids!
