True love doesn't just prevail. True love can bend time and space, and is more important than the love between parents and children, a person's memories and identity, than anything, really.

Also, apparently even though the Observers are evolved from us, they are not human. Because September describes love as "uniquely human". He actually says "I believe you call it...love."

But also: the Observers are human, September just told us so before the hiatus. They are more evolved, supposedly, but human. So a) that directly contradicts his lines in this episode, and b) we're supposed to think it's more evolved to be loveless, when love can save the world and violate the laws of physics and stuff?

Well, more evolved doesn't necessarily mean better -- it just means adapted to one's environment. Maybe in the future, love was outweighed by the utility of being bald and wearing a hat something else.
