I recommend reading the comments below. Over on my LJ there's a person who's liking it, but the spoilers revealed here reinforce my decision not to bother with it.

I don't know about spoiler tags; I always just use the LJ cut-tag for my posts (which DW understands) and try not to leave spoilers in comments. What's a spoiler tag?

I mean, it's not like the first 3 seasons didn't occasionally annoy the crap out of me, too, but. Ugh.

I gave up on it after the second episode. I was sad that Kelly-the-character had to leave, even though I understood that they couldn't keep working with the actress, but that meant that as of the first episode there's only 1 of the original cast members (Curtis) and (rot13ed) Phegvf nccneragyl qvrf va rcvfbqr 4. The remaining characters are reprehensible people who make reprehensible jokes while enacting reprehenisble pranks (ex: n oyvaq tvey nfxf bar bs gurz gb hfr n pbaqbz, fb ur hfrf gur cynfgvp jenc sbezreyl pbirevat qbt sbbq). There's a new female character who I liked and seemed to have a good moral center, but the writers spent a lot more time on the horrible dude characters.

Sooo yeah, I think you should just avoid it entirely.

Well, that sucks. I mean, the show's always had reprehensible people doing reprehensible things, so I'm trying to balance how it feels to hear about this in the abstract vs. seeing it myself. Nathan was a shit and everyone loved him -- I'm sure they're trying to get that back.

But this does not make me wanna rush out and watch it, that's for sure.

Yeah, there's a certain point where there's just been too much piled on top of itself, and it seems tired and not clever any longer. I heard the third episode had some great acting by Rudy--maybe watch that one if you're thinking of checking out an episode from this latest season? And definitely report back if you do!
